Find the instruction before the basin
Read the full care label while the garment is dry and easy to handle. A silk blouse that permits hand washing needs a different plan from a lined dress marked for professional cleaning. If instructions are missing, look for guidance from the maker for that particular piece rather than borrowing a method from another silk item.
Check for existing marks, loose seams and decoration. Note their position before cleaning. A stain on a delicate cuff deserves a deliberate decision; rubbing it vigorously while the rest of the blouse soaks can leave a new problem around the original mark.
Only wash when washing is allowed
For washable silk, follow the specified temperature and use a suitable mild detergent. LILYSILK's hand-washing guidance begins with cold water and gentle handling. The label on your own garment still takes priority, especially where a finish or trim requires different treatment.
Keep handling calm and brief according to the instructions. Do not wring the fabric or treat it like a cotton cleaning cloth. Avoid bleach and unverified stain mixtures. If dye transfers unexpectedly or the fabric changes appearance, stop rather than escalating to a stronger treatment.
Plan the drying stage first
Before starting, make sure you have a clean place to dry the garment in the way its label permits. Keep it away from direct heat and support it appropriately. Check whether a hanger could leave marks or stretch a wet section.
Ironing and steaming require their own care decision. A washing instruction does not automatically permit either method. Read the heat guidance and appliance instructions, and use professional help for a valued piece when the instructions or stain treatment remain uncertain. Taking that pause is easier than trying to reverse a damaged finish.
