Find a comfortable strap length

Put the bag on over your usual top or coat and move the strap through its available settings. Notice where the bag touches your body and whether you can reach the opening easily. There is no single correct height for every person or bag.

If the strap pulls at the neck or the bag swings into your arm, try another setting. A different bag shape may be more useful if no adjustment feels right. Making the strap very short is not automatically a solution to a heavy load.

Check the route across the outfit

The strap can gather loose fabric, flatten a collar or cross a detail you want to leave visible. Smooth the layers once and walk around. If the outfit immediately twists again, try the bag on the other side or choose a different carrying style.

With a textured knit, check for rough hardware or edges that could catch. A scarf should not become trapped awkwardly beneath the strap. Test the coat fastened as well as open.

Pack before the final decision

Add your ordinary belongings and sit down. The bag may need to move to the front or side, and the opening should remain practical. Check that the closure works without forcing it around an overfilled interior.

For travel or busy settings, choose a closure and carrying position appropriate to your circumstances, without assuming a particular style guarantees security. Keep the load manageable and remove items you rarely use. An adjustable strap helps only when the bag itself suits the job.
